Atanas Kurtev

Studied in Petersburg, Brussels. Hungary and France. He was the youngest participant at the VII International Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 1965. He has performed in Bulgaria and abroad. Mr. Kurtew made numer ous recordings for Radio and Television in Bulgaria. He is an author of many musicology publications and reviews. On his initiative there were estab lished in Bulgaria National Piano Competitions: K. Szymanowski, F. Chopin, F. Schubert, F. Liszt, B. Bartok. S. Rachmaninoff and D. Szostakowicz. He is also a founder of the Musical Chopin Society in Bulgaria and co-founder of the three other musical societies. Juror of national and international piano competitions. Held master courses abroad Prize-winner of national and international piano awards and distinctions, participant at international festivals. He teaches at the National Wladigerow Academy of Music and the University in Szumen. His students are prize- winners at national and international competitions. Many of them are employed as lecturers and teachers at music schools in Europe and the United States of America.
