RAPaderewski

The event features some selected songs composed by Ignacy Jan Paderewski to words by Catulle Mendes. These songs will be performed by the artists collaborating with the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz and presented in contemporary reinterpretations by a pianist Michał Szlempo, a rap artist Jarosław “Bisz” Jaruszewski and a music producer Maciej “Kosa” Kosicki.
The topic of melancholy, autumnal nature and loneliness guided the selection of the songs and reverberates distinctly in the music and poems. The created remarkable whole merges distinct musical worlds yet seeks emotions and subjects that are universal macross the times and genres.

Jarosław „Bisz” Jaruszewski

Rap artist, cultural scientist, author of texts and radio dramas. From the beginning of his work, appreciated for his thoughtful selection of topics and insightful lyrics, playing with words and combining various musical styles. Winner of the golden record for the album Wilk chodnikowy, nominated to the Fryderyk award for the album Wilczy humor. He performed during Polityka magazine Passports and the Gdynia Literary Prize award. The artist cooperated with the National Center for Culture during the social and educational campaign promoting the Polish language among the young “Ojczysty – dodaj do ulubionych” as well as with the Cracow Poetry Salon, the Wrocław Literature House and Big Book Festival focusing on the interpretation of poetry created by Tadeusz Różewicz, Urszula Kozioł or Joseph Conrad.

Beata Gramza

Graduated from the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. Twice she was the recipient of a scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Culture
and Art. Beata Gramza is the laureate of the Inter-University Vocal Competition in Wrocław, the Ada Sari International Vocal Artistry Competition, and the International I Ranieri I Cestelli Italian Opera Competition in Berlin. She made her debut in Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz in 1994 in the part of the 1st lady
in Mozart’s Magic Flute. In the subsequent artistic seasons Beata Gramza performed the part of Liu in Puccini’s Turandot, Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Giulietta in Offenbach’s Tales of Hoffmann, Micaela in Bizet’s Carmen, Hanna in Moniuszko’s Haunted Manor. She has been very successful
in her operetta parts in the Merry Widow, Der Zarewitsch and in Lehar’s The Land of Smile. She is assistant professor at the Faculty of Vocal Music and Drama at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz.

Kamila Kułakowska

Soprano – the laureate of various competitions including the International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition in Warsaw and the Ada Sari International Vocal Artistry Competition in Nowy Sącz. She made her debut in 2004 in Berlin. The artist performed in leading parts in many opera theatres including Teatr Wielki – National Opera in Warsaw, Opera Krakowska, Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz. She is a renowned interpreter of cantata and oratorio works as well as art songs. The artist gives concerts both home and abroad and engages into pedagogic activity

Anna Wilk

Soprano. Graduated from the Faculty of Vocal and Acting studies at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz in the class of Professor Hanna Michalak. She is the laureate of vocal competitions. The artist made her debut in 2007 in Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. She performs regularly major oratorios and art songs. Anna Wilk has developed a keen interest in contemporary music and world premieres of such compositions have become a permanent feature of her calendar. Since 2016 the artist has been collaborating with her Alma Mater.

Alicja Tarczykowska

Studied at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, from which she graduated with honors in the piano class of Professor Wiesława Ronowska
(2006). She worked on improving her skills with Professor Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń during a postgraduate course at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz (2008). She completed a postgraduate lieder course at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw (2012). From 2015–2019 the artist participated in the Young Talents Development Program Opera Academy at the Teatr Wielki – National Opera in Warsaw. Since 2006 Alicja Tarczykowska has been working in her Alma Mater, where she holds the position of an assistant. She was awarded an Decoration of Honor Meritorious for the Polish Culture from The Minister of Culture and National Heritage (2017). The artist received a Ph. D. title in fine arts (2020).

Maciej „KOSA” Kosicki

Maciej Kosicki oscillates between art and science. He composed music for the label that released the duo “Bisz”/“Kosa” and for the BeatsFamily project. His works can also be found on albums released by Bisz and duos “Bisz”/“Pekro” and “Ryfa Ri”/“Pekro.” He appeared on stage collaborating with the Pawbeats Orchestra and Kali/Pawbeats liveband. He describes his pieces as conceptual with a carefully devised structure and form of urban music. The album he produced Blady Król was nominated for this year Lech Polish Hip-Hop Music Awards in the album of the year category.

Michał Szlempo

A Polish jazz pianist, arranger, conductor and composer. The artist comes from Nysa. He graduated from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice in jazz piano class under Wojciech Niedziela. Since 2013 Michał Szlempo has been leading the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy big-band. In 2015 it was awarded the 2nd prize during the 20th National Polish Big Band Festival in Nowy Tomyśl. In 2017 the artist, both as a conductor and a producer, made a record with the Feliks Nowowiejski big-band in Bydgoszcz as part of the artistic presentation of his doctoral thesis titled Edward Czerny, Swing and Orchestra. In 2021
Michała Szlempo adapted original material for an orchestra, which gave rise to the Felix Jazz Orchestra.
