The 2nd Paderewski Festival in Bydgoszcz

2nd PADEREWSKI FESTIVAL

Bydgoszcz, October 13th-19th, 2024

The Paderewski Festival in Bydgoszcz is a celebration of Ignacy Jan Paderewski. The first edition of the Festival will connect popular scientific and artistic aspects. We will be hearing a lecture on Ignacy Jan Paderewski, the history of the Music Association, the use of artificial intelligence in music, as well as piano recitals. The Paderewski Festival will presents young artists, winners of international music competitions. The Festival is held to commemorate Ignacy Jan Paderewski, an outstanding pianist, composer and politician — one of the Fathers of Polish Independence and to promote young pianists and Polish culture worldwide. Admission to all events of the Festival will be free.

The Paderewski Festival consists of four extraordinary events, organized by the Paderewski Music Association in Bydgoszcz. Honorary patronage of the Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region, Mr. Piotr Calbecki.

The main Partner of the 2nd Paderewski Festival is the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region. The event is under the media patronage of Telewizja Polska S.A.  in Bydgoszcz (TVP3), Polskie Radio Pomorza i Kujaw (RADIO PIK) and POLMIC.PL – Polskie Centrum Informacji Muzycznej. The festival would not be possible without the support of Solbet Sp. z o.o., ALSTAL Grupa Budowlana sp. z o.o. sp. k, Miejskie Wodociągi i Kanalizacja w Bydgoszczy spółka z o.o., and VauPe Sp. z o.o.

The Paderewski Festival will be inaugurated on October 13th, 2024, at the concert hall od the Paderewski Music Association in Bydgoszczy. Barbara Mielcarek-Krzyżanowska ph.D. from the Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz will show us the unknown face of Ignacy Jan Paderewski. The evening will end with a recital by Kevin Chen, the winner of the 1st prize at the Concours de Genève, Geneva International Music Competition in 2022.

On October 15th, 2024, at the Pomp Hall of the Waterworks Museum in Bydgoszcz. will be the lecture by  Patryk Miziula Ph. D, from the University of Science and Technology in Bydgoszcz called: Generating Music with Artificial Intelligence. Current State and Near Future. After the lecture, we will enjoy a piano recital by Jinhyung Park, the 1st prize winner at International M.K. Čiurlionis Piano Competition in Vilnius.

On October 17th, 2024, at the Polish Radio PIK will be the lecture by Grzegorz Samson from the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music, called: Can Artificial Intelligence Replace Paderewski?  At 6:00 PM, the concert hall will be filled with the sounds of piano works performed by Alessandro Artese, the winner of the Grand Prix of the Rosario Marciano International Competition in Vienna (2024).

he festival will end on October 21st, 2023. At 5:00 PM will be an author’s meeting with Aleksandra Kłaput-Wiśniewska ph.D. a Professor at the Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, and the author of the book “Ludzie z dobrego towarzystwa,” which presents the hundred years history of the Paderewski Music Association in Bydgoszcz As a final of the Festival will be a meeting with Henryk Martenka, the author of the book series “Wielki akord,” the history about the International Paderewski Piano Competitions from the perspective of their long-time Director.
