Studied under the direction of Professor Henryk Sztompka. Prize-winner at the IV”‘ International Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 1949. Made numerous radio and television recordings in Poland, Holland, Italy, Germany and Japan. Professor at the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw and head of the Piano Department. She was given the title of Honourable Professor of the Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw. Holds courses of inter-pretation and delivers lectures in European and non-European countries, among others in Japan, Finland, Germany and Denmark. Is the recipient of many Polish and foreign orders, while also being prize-winner for her artis-tic and didactic activities. Performed in over 30 countries of Europe, both Americas,  Near and Far East. On her initiative in 1988 was established the Regina Smendzianka Foundation.
