Tomasz Ritter – pianist / fortepianist / harpsichordist

In 2018, he won the 1st International Chopin Competition on Historical Instruments in Warsaw. He is also a laureate of many other competitions, including the 9th International Competition for Young Pianists “Artur Rubinstein in memoriam” in Bydgoszcz. In 2018, he was nominated for the “Paszporty Polityki” award, and the following year, he was nominated for the “Koryfeusz Muzyki Polskiej” award.

He began his education in Lublin, his hometown under B. Bechty-Krzemińska. In 2008, he became a student of I. Rumiancewa-Dąbrowska at the ZPSM No.4 in Warsaw. During that time, important encounters for him were with W. Mierżanow and T. Szebanowa. Simultaneously, he gained experience on historical instruments, collaborating with P. Šefl and attending courses with A. Lubimov, M. Bilson, A. Steier, and T. Koch.

His interests led him to study at the Department of Historical and Contemporary Performance at the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, which he graduated from with honors in 2019. He studied under the guidance of A. Lubimov (piano and historical piano), M. Woskresenski (piano), and M. Uspienska (harpsichord). From 2019 to 2021, he completed postgraduate studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg under H. Rutkowski and M. van Delft, graduating with honors.

He has participated in many music festivals in Poland and abroad, performing solo, in chamber ensembles, and with orchestral accompaniment. He has collaborated with orchestras such as the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, {oh} Historical Orchestra, Bach Collegium Japan, Sinfonia Varsovia, and the Polish Radio Orchestra “Amadeus” under the baton of conductors like M. Suzuki, J. Maksymiuk, A. Duczmal, Ł. Borowicz, and G. Nowak. He has performed chamber music with ensembles like the Martinů Quartet, Stradivari Quartett, Royal String Quartet, K.A. Kulką and T. Strahlem, Stefan Tarara, and B. Csalogi.
